Sara Touchet

Photography

“Photography for me started with fear. I was afraid of forgetting the moments of my life and I wanted to preserve them. When my grandfather gave me a digital camera, I was finally able to shoot as much as I wanted. The reason I chose photography over any other medium is that it has the power to encapsulate memory and can trigger its recall. For most people, photographs of loved ones are the most valuable possession they have. I want my life to mean something and for me, that means creating people’s most priceless moments.”

Biography

Sara Touchet is a wedding and portrait photographer from Upstate SC. She started shooting professionally in 2009 and left teaching in 2015 to be a full-time photographer. For Sara, photography is not about the equipment or the format but about the people and their stories. She is passionate about using her craft to inspire her subjects to see themselves in the best light.

When Sara was 16, just at the beginning of the digital age, her grandfather sacrificed a whole social security check to purchase her a nice camera because he wanted her to be able to pursue her interest in photography. There is no way he could have known at that moment that his sacrificial gift would lead to a lifetime career of documenting and transforming lives through photography.

Sara has won The Knot Best of Weddings Award three times. She has been featured in The Carolina Magazine, Anderson Current Magazine, Aisle Society blog, A Southern Wedding blog, Bustld, Tacari Weddings blog, Glittery Bride blog, and Let’s Bee Together wedding blog.

When she is not shooting, Sara likes trying new restaurants, traveling internationally, and binge-watching Netflix with her husband and fur baby.
