Greenville Center for Creative Arts (GCCA) is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2015 by a dedicated group of artists, arts advocates, and community leaders. Located in the historic Brandon Mill in the Village of West Greenville, GCCA’s mission is to enrich the cultural fabric of the community through visual arts promotion, education, and inspiration. It is the only art center of its kind in the Greenville, SC area, specializing in hands-on visual arts instruction. GCCA offers art classes for all ages and skill levels, private artist studios, free high-profile public exhibitions, and innovative outreach programs for underserved children and young emerging artists. Its vision is to build an engine for creativity and community building that crosses boundaries and overcomes barriers.

Position Overview

With direct oversight from the Operations Manager, Visitor Experience Assistant will help with Front Desk and Visitor Experience Associate duties. This includes reception type work, some cleaning, and some minor marketing posting on various websites. This is a part time position that will be rotating Saturday days and weekday evenings based around Art school needs to keep foot traffic through the Main Entrance and Gift Shop open while visitors are at GCCA. VE Assistants are also subject to be asked to work during larger events at GCCA such as Color Gala, or Annual Showcase.

Schedule

Rotating Saturdays (11-3pm) and evenings (5:30pm to 9:30pm roughly)
Federal Holidays Observed
Exact schedule to be decided based on needs of Art school

Primary Responsibilities

  •  Answering phone calls
  • Checking out and helping guests with Gift shop purchases
  • Maintain a clean and organized area in the front desk and kitchen
  • Make and maintain some marketing postings on various media websites
  • Opening and closing of the building
  • Light tidying during shifts
  • Be personable to all guests and studio artists arriving and leaving GCCA

Requirements

  • Must be self-sufficient and self-motivated to complete work tasks due to limited
    oversight from the Operations Manager while on the clock
  • Some reception work experience helpful but not required
  • Minimum of Junior in high school
  • CPR and First Aid Certification a plus but not required
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Ability to create a fun and inclusive atmosphere
  • Ability to promote teamwork and a positive environment with other staff and
    studio artists
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to create,
    monitor, and enforce standards of behavior
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Flexibility and the ability to work in an ever changing environment
  • A background check will be required before acceptance
