Junior Fellowship

The Junior Fellowship is a six-month mentorship program created by the Greenville Center for Creative Arts and Brandon Fellow alumnus Nick Burns (Ninja Picasso) to connect young artists and dancers ages 8–17 with working creative professionals. Launched in 2026 as its inaugural year, the program was designed to expand access to mentorship, creative opportunities, and professional arts experiences for youth.

Applications for the 2026-2027 program year are currently open. The deadline to submit your application is August 21st by 11:59pm.

The Junior Fellowship is designed to:

  • Expand access to arts education and mentorship.

  • Connect young creatives with working professionals.

  • Encourage continued participation in GCCA programs.

  • Strengthen partnerships with schools and community organizations.

  • Prepare participants for future opportunities, including the Brandon Fellowship.

  • Develop future artists, dancers, educators, and mentors.

Fellowship Benefits

Mentorship

One on one mentorship with a working artist in their medium or dance style.

Complimentary Classes & Workshops:

Fellows gain free access to GCCA classes and workshops, expanding their skills and techniques.

Exhibition & Showcase

Fellows showcase their work in an exhibition and dance showcase, culminating in a public presentation.

Networking & Collaboration:

Fellows participate in local arts events, providing opportunities for networking and creative collaboration.

Application Recruirements

Age & Citizen Requirement

Applicants must be between 8 and 17 years old.

At the time of application, applicants must be U.S. citizens or have been lawful permanent residents for at least five years.

Education & Training:

No prior professional art or dance training —what matters most is your dedication to your artistic practice and professional growth.

Artistic Commitment:

Ideal candidates are passionate about advancing their careers as working artists, demonstrating strong artistic talent, self-motivation, and a clear sense of direction.

Studio & Community Engagement:

Fellows must be fully committed to their studio practice, attending the 6 private mentor sessions, engaging with visitors, and actively participating in the arts community.
